three parts poem
I
i open my eyes, and see a new world
i raise my ears, and hear a new sound
i leave my mouth, covered in silence
i taste the earth, with a new tongue

II
when?
not then, but forgetting
who?
not me, but now
where?
not there, but thou
how?
not if, but i

III
the tree bends back upon itself.
a thick branch cut off
near the base
makes no difference;

the trunk wound
has healed, reaching
around its body
like an arc of wooded flesh;

once perishable in limitation
this eternal imagination
covers my new mind.
i bend down to kiss its bark
